Makeup sponge and powder puff sampling: steps and lead times before a B2B order
What to check in a sample and which details should be approved before mass production.

A sample is a production standard
A sample is not only for presentation. For a B2B order, it defines material, size, shape, color, hand-feel, logo, and packaging. If these details are not recorded, the buyer and factory may evaluate the mass-production batch differently.
Samples with standard materials usually take around 3–7 working days. New shapes, non-standard materials, complex printing, or special packaging require a separate timeline estimate.
What to check in a sponge sample
Check dry and wet feel, rebound speed, pore consistency, expansion after wetting, odor, color, and size. If the sponge is positioned as a premium item, a practical foundation application test can be useful.
For powder puffs, check the fabric surface, thickness, ribbon or handle, edge finish, shape recovery after compression, and fit with the individual package.
Details to approve
Before mass production, confirm logo artwork, Pantone or color reference, product dimensions, tolerance, packaging text, barcode, pieces per carton, and carton marks. Changing one of these items after sample approval may affect cost and lead time.
How to approve production
Keep the approved sample and a short specification with photos. For larger projects, agree on an in-process check and pre-shipment photos. This turns a subjective “looks good” decision into a repeatable production standard.
